Basketball Recap: Concord Spiders vs. West Rowan Falcons
Even though the West Rowan Falcons scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, the Concord Spiders still came out on top. Concord took their contest against the Falcons 70-57. The win made it back-to-back wins for Concord.
Leading Concord to victory were Jaden Reid and Jeremiah Howard. Reid scored 20 points, while Howard dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reid has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyzen Coleman, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
West Rowan's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Young, who scored ten points along with six blocks. Young hasn't dropped below three blocks for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Will Givens Jr., who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Concord has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for West Rowan, they dropped their record down to 11-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Concord will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. South Rowan comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for West Rowan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Cabarrus will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
