Baseball Recap: Greencastle-Antrim Takes a Loss

Greencastle-Antrim started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Bermudian Springs. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Greencastle-Antrim got a good showing from Ben Horst, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Horst has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Greencastle-Antrim and nudges their season record down to 2-2. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Bermudian Springs, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Coming up, Greencastle-Antrim will head out on the road to challenge Spring Grove at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Greencastle-Antrim 1.8, Spring Grove 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bermudian Springs, they will venture away from home to take on Biglerville at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
