Volleyball Recap: Start Comes Up Short

Start suffered their biggest defeat since May 7, 2025 on Monday. They lost 3-0 to the Adrian Maples. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Maples from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Adrian scored at least 21 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Start saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ragder Avella had 15 digs and one assist.

Start has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Adrian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Start didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Northwest Ohio Classical Academy on the 14th. As for Adrian, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Washtenaw Christian Academy on the 14th.
