Basketball Recap: Wapanucka Comes Up Short

Wapanucka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 43-24 fall against the Buffalo Valley Buffaloes. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 124th).

Among those leading the charge was Kya Andrews, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 12 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Tristyn Kirkes was another key player, putting up eight points.

Wapanucka's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Buffalo Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Wapanucka will venture away from home to square off against Boswell at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. As for Buffalo Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-34 win against Granite on the 24th.
