Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Matthew Owens and Blake Jenkins Lead Luray to Victory

Luray's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Clarke County Eagles by a score of 73-62. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Leading Luray to victory were Blake Jenkins and Matthew Owens. Jenkins went 6 for 11 to rack up 26 points, while Owens went 8 of 16 en route to 23 points. Thanks to that strong game, Owens now owns an excellent 45.3% shooting accuracy. Jae Frye was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Despite the defeat, Clarke County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Isaac Nei went 7 of 13 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Palmer, who posted 12 points.

Luray's record now sits at 14-5. As for Clarke County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-14.

Luray has already played their next game, a 53-47 loss against Central Woodstock on the 8th. As for Clarke County, they will head out on the road to take on Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
