Softball Recap: Alexandria-Monroe's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Alexandria-Monroe waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Monroe Central Golden Bears 14-3. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Stella Griffin was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Greenleigh Blossom also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Alexandria-Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.

Alexandria-Monroe's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Monroe Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alexandria-Monroe will challenge Hamilton Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Monroe Central, they will square off against Randolph Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Bears are facing the Rebels at the right time seeing as the Rebels are stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
