Normal University won the last time they faced Springfield Southeast and things went their way on Friday too. The Pioneers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Spartans 50-14. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-0.

Max Dameron went supernova, rushing for 44 yards and three touchdowns. Andrew Alvarez got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Alvarez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Normal University didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Bodey Klemmensen, Chenzo Cottone, and Aiden Olson picked up one apiece. Cottone got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win made it two in a row for Normal University and bumps their season record up to 4-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Decatur Eisenhower and 2-6 Springfield Southeast. As for Springfield Southeast, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Normal University has already played their next contest, a 52-14 victory against Lanphier on the 24th. As for Springfield Southeast, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 26-18 win against Decatur Eisenhower on the 24th.
