Softball Recap: Whitehall Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Whitehall came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the William Allen Canaries. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-0 on April 3rd.

The team relied heavily on Josie Shultz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amya Espinal, who earned three runs and two stolen bases.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Whitehall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as William Allen didn't got any hits.

Whitehall's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for William Allen, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Whitehall is set to take on their familiar foe Parkland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, William Allen will face off against rival Allentown Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
