Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Blue Cougars vs. Gardiner Tigers

Mt. Blue hasn't had much luck against Gardiner recently, but that could start to change on Monday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Mt. Blue Cougars duke it out with the Gardiner Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 13 defeats in a row, Mt. Blue turned things around against Messalonskee on Saturday. They pulled ahead with a 36-35 photo finish over the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Gardiner earned a 55-42 victory over Nokomis on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Gardiner's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9. As for Mt. Blue, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-12 and their overall record up to 2-15.

Mt. Blue took a serious blow against Gardiner in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 54-24. Can Mt. Blue avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
