Soccer Game Preview: Rutland vs. Woodstock

The Rutland Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Woodstock Wasps at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rutland has three straight victories, Woodstock has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

While Rutland's win against Mount Anthony wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Raiders had just enough and edged out the Patriots 2-1 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Woodstock fell victim to Springfield and their airtight defense on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cosmos.

Rutland's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Woodstock, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Everything went Rutland's way against Woodstock when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Rutland made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
