Texas Top 25 high school boys basketball rankings: No. 1 Duncanville advances; No. 5 John Paul II wins TAPPs crown

After a second-round Texas 6A playoff win last week, No. 1 Duncanville prepares for the No. 3 team in the state Grand Prairie on Tuesday night.

Duncanville defeated Lewisville 86-73 behind 27 points from Micah Peavy and 15 points by Zhuric Phelps, and now get a Grand Prairie squad that is 27-2 and that moved up three spots from No. 6 in last week's rankings following two wins.

The Gophers have won 22 of 23, with its only loss coming to Waxahachie, which moved up two spots to No. 2 in the rankings this week.

Allen and Guyer, which were ranked No. 2 and 3 last week, dropped to 8 and 9 this week, after season-ending state playoff losses.



John Paul II finished 40-1 after two wins last week to take the TAPPS 6A title. The Cardinals, who moved up to a season best No. 5 in the state rankings, defeated Antonian Prep 51-48 in the state finals, taking a 28-18 halftime lead before holding on.
