Football Recap: Golden Valley Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Golden Valley had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the Westlake Warriors on Friday, falling 38-14. The Grizzlies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Westlake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Demanie Bell led the charge by rushing for 182 yards and one touchdown while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Bell didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made two total tackles. Another passer making a difference was Ford Green, who threw for 218 yards and four TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.

Golden Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 41-16 defeat against Crespi on the 29th. As for Westlake, they have also already played their next contest, a 31-14 victory against Agoura on the 29th.
