Basketball Recap: Anton Graham's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Brooks County over Turner County

Brooks County lost against Turner County back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Brooks County Trojans received a blow as they fell 74-58 to the Turner County Titans. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while the Titans are ranked 231st).

Brooks County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anton Graham, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 21 boards. Those 21 rebounds gave Graham a new career-high. Camauri Brinson was another key player, going 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points along with five assists and four steals.

Even though they lost, Brooks County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 24 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Brooks County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Turner County, their win bumped their record up to 18-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brooks County and Charlton County will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Brooks County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Charlton County likes a good challenge. As for Turner County, they and Fitzgerald will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Fitzgerald will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Turner County surely won't give up without a fight.
