Basketball Recap: Haven Anthony's Big Game Can't Quite Lead HEARTS for Jesus Christ over First Baptist Christian

HEARTS for Jesus Christ entered their match against First Baptist Christian on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The HEARTS for Jesus Christ Guardians fell to the First Baptist Christian Sabres 31-25. The Guardians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sabres apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

HEARTS for Jesus Christ's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haven Anthony, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Anthony is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayna Kawczak, who put up 13 points and three steals.

HEARTS for Jesus Christ's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-3. As for First Baptist Christian, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. HEARTS for Jesus Christ will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fuchs Mizrachi at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. First Baptist Christian will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Open Door Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025.
