Volleyball Recap: Marionville Takes a Loss

If Marionville was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Southwest last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Comets took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spokane Owls on Thursday. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Owls 25-18 in the first set.

Marionville started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-21.

Carley Collins had a dynamite game For Spokane., getting 19 digs and one assist. Collins is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Marionville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3-2. As for Spokane, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marionville will head out to challenge Greenfield at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Spokane, they will face off against Galena at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Owls are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
