Basketball Recap: Estancia Comes Up Short

Estancia lost against Costa Mesa back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Estancia Eagles had to suffer through a 70-40 loss at the hands of the Costa Mesa Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered against the Mustangs since April 22, 2021.

Estancia's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Costa Mesa, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Estancia and Santiago will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santiago will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Estancia surely won't give up without a fight. As for Costa Mesa, they will be home for the holidays to greet Laguna Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Costa Mesa's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
