Softball Recap: Karns City Now 10-3 over Last 13 Games

After losing to Moniteau the last time they met, Karns City decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Gremlins walked away with a 7-3 win over the Warriors on Monday.

Addison Burrows was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyrik Reed, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Ronni Radaker was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Karns City hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moniteau struck out 15 times.

Karns City has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Moniteau, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-9.

Karns City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Moniteau, they will take on DuBois Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
