Baseball Game Preview: Slidell Tigers vs. Newman Greenies

The Slidell Tigers will challenge the Newman Greenies at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Slidell's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Newman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Slidell's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when St. Thomas Aquinas hitters got past them. Slidell took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Brayden Calamari made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Green, who scored a run while going 1-for-5.

Calamari wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Slidell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Newman fell victim to Thibodaux and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-0. The Greenies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Slidell's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Newman, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Slidell took their victory against Newman in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5. Will Slidell repeat their success, or does Newman has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
