Basketball Game Preview: Berean Christian Eagles vs. Redwood Christian Eagles

Berean Christian and Redwood Christian are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Berean Christian Eagles just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Redwood Christian Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Berean Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Alhambra on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Berean Christian lost 65-42 to Alhambra. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-12.

Meanwhile, Redwood Christian waltzed into their match on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They enjoyed a cozy 64-46 win over the Cougars. The Eagles pushed the score to 52-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars cut but never quite recovered from.

Berean Christian better focus on containing Nehemiah Mitchell and David Rogers as the pair were huge in Redwood Christian's win. Mitchell went 7 of 14 en route to 16 points along with six assists and three steals, while Rogers dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Rogers' evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Hubbard, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Redwood Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now posted at least 20 assists in three consecutive contests.

Redwood Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points per game. As for Berean Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.

Everything came up roses for Berean Christian against Redwood Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, as the squad secured an 88-50 victory.
