Soccer Game Preview: Poquoson vs. Riverheads

The Poquoson Islanders will square off against the Riverheads Gladiators on Tuesday. Poquoson will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each game than the last.

Poquoson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let King William get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. Poquoson might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting King William from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Makayla Goodson led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Riverheads managed to keep up with Clarke County until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Gladiators came up short against the Eagles, falling 3-0.

Poquoson's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four contests. As for Riverheads, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5-1.
