It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Sarasota ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Palmetto Tigers 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sailors have posted since March 25, 2024.

Cesar Garmendia tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Mark Metcalf was excellent, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Nelson Dominguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Sarasota has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. Palmetto's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Coming up, Sarasota will face off against North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palmetto, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Palmetto Tigers challenge Buchholz Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Buchholz will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Palmetto surely won't give up without a fight.
