Baseball Recap: Center Line Comes Up Short

Center Line had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-7 to make it five. They came up short against the New Haven Rockets, falling 10-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Center Line saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Watters, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Dylan Fenger also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for New Haven, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 12 runs.

On New Haven's side, they got a great performance from Eddie Knuckey as he struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Knuckey a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Lamar Pearson was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaden Gilbert, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Center Line will take on Clawson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Haven, they will face off against Fitzgerald at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
