Softball Game Preview: Conant Orioles vs. Monadnock Huskies

Conant hasn't had much luck against Monadnock recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Orioles will venture away from home to face off against the Huskies at 4:00 p.m.

On Friday, Conant came up short against Bishop Brady and fell 7-2.

Mackenzie MacFarland was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Sophia Spingola made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Violet Bennett was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Monadnock nor Raymond made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Huskies came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rams, sneaking past 5-3. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Monadnock's record is now 9-6. As for Conant, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Conant couldn't quite get it done against Monadnock in their previous matchup on May 8th as they fell 4-0. Can the Orioles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
