Volleyball Recap: Monroeville Starts off Right with Win over Plymouth

Monroeville had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Plymouth Big Red on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Monroeville was: they took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-3, 25-7, 25-13.

Monroeville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Lyons led the charge by getting eight aces and three digs. Those eight aces gave Lyons a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madyson Miller, who had eight aces and five digs.

They weren't the only good server: Monroeville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 27 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Plymouth dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Monroeville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Bellevue on the 21st. As for Plymouth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Lucas on the 21st.
