Monroeville had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Plymouth Big Red. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Monroeville took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-3, 25-7, 25-13.

Monroeville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Lyons led the charge by getting eight aces and three digs. Lyons has been hot recently, having also posted 16 or more assists the last four times she's played. Madyson Miller was another key player, getting eight aces and five digs.

They weren't the only good server: Monroeville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 27 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Plymouth is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Monroeville has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Bellevue on the 21st. As for Plymouth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Lucas on the 21st.
