Recap: Lafayette Commodores vs. Choctaw Central Warriors
It was a good run, but the Lafayette Commodores unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost to Choctaw Central on the road by a decisive 68-54 margin. Lafayette has not had much luck with Choctaw Central recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Lafayette still got an impressive performance from Madison Smith, who scored 22 points along with 8 rebounds. Smith scored a full 40.7% of Lafayette's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Harmony Jackson, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Lafayette's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Choctaw Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lafayette will take on Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Choctaw Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cherokee at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
