Mesquite entered their tilt with Cactus Shadows on Monday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23.
Mesquite got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Merritt Cleasby out in front who had seven digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Cleasby a new career-high.
They weren't the only good servers: Mesquite was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive matches.
Despite the defeat, Cactus Shadows had strong showings from Gabby Procopio, who had 21 digs and three assists, and Reesa Witzig, who had 16 digs and two aces. Procopio has been hot, having posted 21 or more digs the last five times she's played.
Mesquite's win bumped their record up to 23-5. As for Cactus Shadows, their loss ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.
