Volleyball Recap: Normandy Comes Up Short

Normandy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Rocky River Pirates. The Invaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Normandy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-22.

Anais Valentin Rivera paced Normandy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Valentin Rivera got some help from Taylor Shaw and her 29 assists. Addison Giraldo and Jessica Chuba kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Kylie Spies had an outrageously good game for Rocky River as she had six digs and five aces. That's the most aces Spies has posted since September 2nd.

Normandy's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Rocky River, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Normandy has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against North Olmsted on the 30th. As for Rocky River, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Berea-Midpark on the 29th.
