Recap: Northside L Lions vs. Tabernacle Christian Eagles
The Tabernacle Christian Eagles typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Northside L Lions proved too difficult a challenge. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 65-45 victory. Northside L pushed the score to 53-30 by the end of the third, a deficit Tabernacle Christian cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northside L to victory, but perhaps none more so than Macy Cline, who scored 20 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Esther Moore, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Tabernacle Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Annie Sichting. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Sichting pulled down eight or more rebounds. Liz Southerland was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Tabernacle Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northside L only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
The victory (which was Northside L's third in a row) raised their record to 16-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Tabernacle Christian, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-4.
Northside L didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-16 win vs. Fort Wayne GUARD HomeSchool on the 10th. Tabernacle Christian has also already played their next game, a 62-55 win against Seven Oaks Classical on the 10th.
