Baseball Recap: Ridgemont Wins Going Away Against Vanlue

After only two runs in their last contest, Ridgemont made sure to put some runs up on the board against Vanlue on Thursday. The Golden Gophers blew past the Wildcats 13-1. The Golden Gophers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jayden Sifrit made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Maverick Dawson was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Maddox Thompson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Ridgemont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vanlue only posted a batting average of .222.

Ridgemont picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Vanlue, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgemont will venture away from home to take on Fairbanks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Gophers are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Vanlue, they will head out on the road to challenge Gibsonburg at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
