Basketball Recap: Bloomfield Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

A well-balanced attack led Bloomfield over Westwood Baptist Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. The Bloomfield Wildcats blew past the Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles 52-27. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Eagles are ranked 153rd).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katie Gross, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Hawley, who had nine points.

Bloomfield's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they moved to 7-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomfield will welcome South Pemiscot at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Crosspoint Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Westwood Baptist Academy's defense has only allowed 27.1 points per game this season, so Crosspoint Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them.
