Softball Game Preview: Mapleton Mounties vs. South Central Trojans

For the second straight game, Mapleton will face off against South Central. The Mounties will take on the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mapleton's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so South Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mapleton took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand South Central a 12-0 shutout. The Mounties might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

For South Central's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zaida Myers, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Mapleton pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for South Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
