            Basketball Recap: Springport Spartans vs. Maple Valley Lions        
        
		
        
        
            Springport had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 37-point drubbing they dealt Maple Valley on Thursday. The Springport Spartans simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Maple Valley Lions 80-43. The  match marked the Spartans' most dominant  win of the  season so far.

Springport's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Jake Kregel, who  dropped  a double-double on 15  points and ten  assists. The dominant performance gave  Kregel a new career-high in  assists. Another player making a difference was  Brody Baum, who  almost  dropped  a double-double on 16 points and nine  boards.
 Kregel wasn't the only one working in the  assists department: Springport was working as a unit and  finished the game with 19  assists. That's the most  assists they've managed all season.
Springport's win was  their fifth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 6-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Maple Valley, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost four of their last five games,  which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record  this season.
 Springport and Lenawee Christian will round out the year against one another at  at 7:00  p.m.  on December 27th. Lenawee Christian will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  victory, something Springport surely won't give up without a fight. As for Maple Valley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the  defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Colon at 7:00  p.m.  on January 3, 2025.
