Baseball Recap: Calhoun Comes Up Short

Calhoun extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-21. They came up short against the South Harrison Hawks, falling 14-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 back in April.

Cooper Morris was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Evan Burch also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for South Harrison, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On South Harrison's side, Jaxon Anderson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Anderson a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Zane Harlow was incredible, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Cohen Wilfong was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Calhoun will venture away from home to square off against Sissonville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Harrison, they will host Frankfort at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
