Preview: Columbus International Lions vs. Whetstone Braves

Columbus International is 2-8 against Whetstone since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Columbus International Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Whetstone Braves at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Columbus International focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.

Columbus International scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Linden-McKinley 73-43 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Columbus International has posted since December 14, 2023.

Leila Carter was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 44 points, 13 rebounds, and 14 steals. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Columbus International's points. Another player making a difference was Annazai Ingram-cross, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Whetstone had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Horizon Science Academy 42-27 on Wednesday. The win was just what Whetstone needed coming off of a 63-12 loss in their prior match.

Columbus International is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Whetstone, their win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-14.

Columbus International was able to grind out a solid victory over Whetstone when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 47-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Columbus International since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
