Basketball Game Preview: Aldine Mustangs vs. Westfield Mustangs

Aldine is 0-10 against Westfield since February of 2020 but things could change on Saturday. The Aldine Mustangs will welcome the Westfield Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Aldine is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game on Thursday. They lost 55-33 to MacArthur.

Aldine's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mireya Molina, who posted ten points, and Denise Vergara, who scored five points and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Molina a new career-high in assists (four).

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Westfield's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Nimitz by a score of 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since December 2, 2023.

Aldine's loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Westfield, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 18-5.

Aldine was dealt a bruising 69-3 loss at the hands of Westfield in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Aldine was down 46-1.
