Baseball Game Preview: Paschal Panthers vs. Polytechnic Parrots

The Paschal Panthers will challenge the Polytechnic Parrots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Paschal's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Polytechnic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Tuesday. Paschal fell just short of Fossil Ridge by a score of 3-1. That's two games in a row now that Paschal has lost by exactly two runs.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Polytechnic and North Side have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Parrots fell 8-4 to the Steers. The loss continues a trend for the Parrots in their meetings with the Steers: they've now lost three in a row.

Polytechnic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hector Ruiz, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Ruiz is becoming a predictor of the Parrots' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 5-14-1 when he doesn't).

This is the second loss in a row for Paschal and nudges their season record down to 16-10-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Polytechnic, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15-1.
