With a playoff game on the line, Matanzas rose to the challenge on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the East River Falcons. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 18-25, 25-14, 25-12.
Matanzas was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive contests.
The win got Matanzas back to even at 11-11. As for East River, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
Matanzas wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Oviedo on the 15th. East River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
