Basketball Recap: Grace Christian School Falls Despite Big Games from Jorianna Burch and Madelyn Kennedy

Grace Christian School lost against Christchurch School back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Grace Christian School Kings received a blow as they fell 43-26 to the Christchurch School Seahorses. The Kings were down 39-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Grace Christian School's loss came despite strong showings from Madelyn Kennedy and Jorianna Burch. Kennedy posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Burch scored eight points and four steals. Burch is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played.

Alexis Foster was her usual excellent self, putting up 18 points along with five assists and five boards for Christchurch School. That makes it four consecutive games in which Foster has scored at least a third of Christchurch School's points. Jaclyn Callis was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Grace Christian School dropped their record down to 5-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Christchurch School, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.

Grace Christian School and Christchurch School could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Grace Christian School (ranked 316th) will meet St. Margaret's (ranked 72nd) at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Christchurch School will face off against Trinity Episcopal at 5:30 p.m. on Friday down 230 places (283 vs. 53).
