Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Melbourne). They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Palm Bay Pirates on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won five in a row.

Noah Lopez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Melbourne got a massive performance out of Nolan Keeley, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs Keeley has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bryson Ayala, who scored two runs and stole Three bases.

Melbourne's record is now 5-3. As for Palm Bay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melbourne will challenge Merritt Island at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Melbourne will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Palm Bay, they will square off against Satellite at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Satellite will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Palm Bay surely won't give up without a fight.
