Baseball Recap: Deltona Finds Playoff Glory Versus New Smyrna Beach

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Deltona walked away with it. They came out on top against the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-2 back in March.

Deltona got a great performance from Mason Draper as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Draper also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Wolves are 6-3 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jay Albizu was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

Deltona's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for New Smyrna Beach, they moved to 13-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Deltona will face off against Winter Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight. New Smyrna Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
