Recap: Brazosport Exporters vs. Navasota Rattlers
This season hasn't been kind to The Brazosport Exporters, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They took a 30-14 bruising from Navasota on Friday. Brazosport was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Navasota apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the loss, Brazosport still got an impressive performance from Toric Goins, who picked up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Goins was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 64 yards.
Brazosport's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-0 Iowa Colony and 10-0 Silsbee (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.6% over those games). As for Navasota, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Brazosport will be playing at home against El Campo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Campo presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brazosport in Texas (El Campo is ranked 367th, while Brazosport is ranked 786th). Navasota does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
