Softball Recap: King Kekaulike Continues Home Dominance on Friday

King Kekaulike barely beat Maui the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Na Ali'i were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Sabers on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Na Ali'i, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Hulali Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, King Kekaulike got a massive performance out of Chiyo Salas, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Kelsie Jo Sakamoto was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Salas wasn't the only one making solid contact: King Kekaulike kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Na Ali'i are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

King Kekaulike's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Maui, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5.

Looking ahead, King Kekaulike will challenge Kamehameha Maui at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Na Ali'i are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Maui, they will square off against Baldwin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Sabers surely won't give up without a fight.
