Basketball Game Preview: Pocahontas County Warriors vs. Union Tigers

The Pocahontas County Warriors just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Union Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, Pocahontas County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-48 to Webster County. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Highlanders: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Union didn't have too much trouble with Hundred on Saturday as they won 70-52. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Pocahontas County better keep an eye on Braylon Ward. He was instrumental in Union's win, dropping a double-double with 37 points and 20 boards. The match was Ward's sixth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Gaither, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds.

Union was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They are 9-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

Pocahontas County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Union, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Pocahontas County came out on top in a nail-biter against Union in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 54-51. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ward, who went 10-for-21 on his way to 25 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.
