Baseball Recap: Whitney Comes Up Short

After flying high against Workman on Wednesday, Whitney came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the Calvary Chapel Grizzlies by a score of 8-7 on Friday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2020.

Nate Arellano was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Kavi Stris was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Whitney dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Calvary Chapel, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Whitney will venture away from home to square off against Compton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tarbabes' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Calvary Chapel, they will head out to face off against Los Altos at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
