Softball Recap: Libertyville Takes a Loss

Libertyville easily dispatched Evanston last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Wildcats fell just short of the Mundelein Mustangs by a score of 13-11 on Monday. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Emily Psyhogios and Bella Zelenka did some serious damage despite the final result: Psyhogios went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Zelenka went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was Zelenka's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Zoe Kinsella, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Libertyville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Mundelein, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Libertyville will welcome Waukegan at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Mundelein, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Warren Township at 4:45 p.m.
