Basketball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Verbum Dei Jesuit's 12th in Last 13 Outings

If St. Genevieve wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Verbum Dei Jesuit, they should've done a better job of containing Jaythan Pinckney. The Verbum Dei Jesuit Eagles blew past the St. Genevieve Valiants, posting an 87-35 win thanks in part to Pinckney, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played.

Another player making a difference was Curtis Simpson, who posted two points and eight assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.

Verbum Dei Jesuit is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for St. Genevieve, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16.

Verbum Dei Jesuit has already played their next game, a 73-70 victory against South Pasadena on the 4th. St. Genevieve does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
