Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Creighton Prep's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Creighton Prep lost to Rockhurst on Monday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Junior Jays walked away with a 4-1 win over the Hawklets.

Vinny Constantino looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Creighton Prep is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 6-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Tony Coniglio was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Garrett Andersen, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Creighton Prep has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Rockhurst, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Creighton Prep will face off against Pius X at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbolts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.92 runs per game on average), something the Junior Jays will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rockhurst, they will venture away from home to square off against Pembroke Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
