Volleyball Preview: Weslaco East Wildcats vs. Porter Cowboys

The Weslaco East Wildcats will challenge the Porter Cowboys at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Weslaco East will be strutting in after a victory while Porter will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Weslaco East finally turned things around against Donna on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Redskins. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Wildcats have posted since August 12th.

Weslaco East was dominant in the second set, but otherwise had just enough against a tough Donna squad. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-15, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Porter came up short against Pace on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Cowboys have struggled against the Vikings recently, as their game on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

While Porter had to take the loss, they sure made a game of it, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-12, 22-25, 25-15.

Even though they lost, Porter was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 0 aces per game earlier this season, but in their last five games they've averaged 10.5.
