Softball Recap: Pocono Mountain West Panthers vs. Nazareth Area Blue Eagles
Pocono Mountain West had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it six. They fell 6-1 to the Nazareth Area Blue Eagles. The Panthers lost against the Blue Eagles in their previous head to head back in April of 2018, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 26-0 score last time.
Pocono Mountain West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Evans, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
As for Nazareth Area, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.
On Nazareth Area's side, Avery Kauffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Kauffman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pocono Mountain West will challenge Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Nazareth Area, they will face off against Freedom at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
